A CRISTO REY SCHOOL FOR HOUSTON

The Jesuits of the Southern Province seek to provide economically-disadvantaged students and families in Houston an opportunity to benefit from a high school model (Cristo Rey) that has a proven track record for preparing students to be successful in college and in life.

The Jesuits of the Southern Province, along with an Advisory Committee of Jesuit-affiliated Houston business executives, leaders and academics, will establish Cristo Rey Houston, a four-year, college preparatory co-ed high school. The school will grow one grade at a time, accommodating 500 students after four years.

CORPORATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

To make a Jesuit, college-preparatory education affordable to young people from Houston's urban areas, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School will use an innovative model called the Corporate Internship program (CIP). This program combines two commonly used business concepts, employee leasing and job sharing, and gives our students the means of financing their education. Through CIP, each student will earn 70% of the cost of his or her education by working five full days each month in entry-level positions at professional offices in Houston. Longer school days and a longer school year balance out the time spent gaining real world experience on the job.
